The program of excursions to Armenia from Tbilisi is very interesting and will be 2 days long
Day 1
We leave hospitable Georgia and go to the border with amazing Armenia. Crossing the border usually doesn’t take much time.We will see many mountain passes, gorges, serpentines and rivers.
The road is long, but interesting!
The first objects on our way will be:
Haghpat and Sanahin are UNESCO World Heritage
We go, make stops in beautiful places and looks the views of the gorges and mountains!
Note: the whole territory of Armenia is characterized by a complex relief structure, it gives its landscapes a peculiar charm. 90% of the territory of Armenia is raised above 1000 m above sea level, over 3000 km of mountain ranges surrounds its territory.
After a long drive we will stop in the resort town of Dilijan , where there is everything that a tourist needs.
This is a famous mountain resort in Armenia.
You enter the city and seem to find yourself in a completely different world: high mountains, dense of forests, pleasant fresh air.
For all these qualities, the local call Dilijan a little Switzerland . Dilijan reserve surrounds the city from all sides. The climate here is mild, non-hot summers and dry sunny wintersCloser to dinner we get to the high-altitude lake Sevan , - the largest freshwater lake in the world. Nearby is the Sevanovank Monastery - a complex of ancient buildings with stunning scenic views!
There is a good restaurant on the Sevan lake where we are will take a lunch and the opportunity to testing kebabs from the famous Sevan whitefish or crayfish , breathe in the clear mountain air
In the evening we will arrive in Yerevan, checking into a hotel.
Day 2
Introducing Yerevan . It is known as the city of roses and attracts travelers with its landscapes and unusual monuments. A sightseeing tour around the city will begin with a visit to Cascade - this is a mega-staircase 500 meters high and 50 meters wide. From here you can see the opera, Mount Ararat, Yerevan Swan Lake, Republic Square and Abovyan Street, which we will definitely go through later.Then, a tour of the Ararat Brandy Factory with a tasting of two varieties of cognac.
We continue our journey around Armenia and go to the foot of Mount Ararat - to the monastery Khor Virap (VI-XVII centuries). The monastery is located on the border of Armenia with Turkey, on a hill.
In ancient times, it was on this territory that the city of Artashat was located - the ancient capital of Armenia. This monastery is a place of pilgrimage, one of the most revered places in Armenia.
We’ll go to the Etchmiadzin Cathedral , which is the residence of the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
On the way back to Georgia, let us stop again on Lake Sevan.
Late return to Tbilisi.
